Boom! Coming off another winning pick from the SSG team! Thanks to a stellar showing by Jon Rahm last week, SSG have correctly picked the winner 2 out of 6 attempts with top 10 finishing picks each week, and this week we are looking to add another to the stats…
This week we find the PGA tour in Minnesota at TPC Twin Cities. The golf course seems to be a resort style with an open layout with a few holes shaped by trees. Having a look at the pictures and previous events, evidence suggests a lot of hay around to catch those stray shots and leave golfers with a full swing “hack” and hope of recovery.
The Must Have Picks
Our first pick leaves us with a handful of the elite to choose from. Koepka seems to continue to struggle with his injury and is hoping to find some form in time for the first Major in a couple weeks. DJ is coming off a poor week, although he can never be written off he will not quite make our first pick. Tony Finau is our first pick, coming off a strong start last week with the unfortunate tapering off towards the end. His game is pure off the tee and is matched up with some confident numbers on the greens. Tony has a great attitude which will help him to forget about last week and focus on stringing four good rounds together.
Our second pick goes to the Wolff! Matthew is one of those streaky golfers who can get hot really quick and put some numbers on the board. His narrow defeat to Bryson at the Rocket Mortgage Classic will fuel his desire to defend his title this week. Wolff is a confident player and someone who can get his nose in front and keep it there regardless of what’s occurring in the field behind him.
The British pick for this week is a tough one to make when you consider Fitzpatrick’s solid performance at The Memorial, we see Paul Casey has entered the field with a hot streak destined to be around the corner. We feel that this week Tommy Fleetwood will break through and win his first event on the PGA tour. Fleetwood will see this week as an opportunity to capitalise off the weakened field and look to get a W under his belt before focusing his attention toward the PGA Championship.
The outsider for this week is Dylan Frittelli. Maybe not so much an outsider considering his win at the John Deer Classic last year, Dylan has a solid game tee to green. He is not necessarily long, but has the ability to throw darts at the flags and give himself ample birdie opportunities.
- Tony Finau
- Matthew Wolff
- Tommy Fleetwood
- Dylan Frittelli
